Objectives
Through language learning, we aim to:
- Improve students' abilities in reading, writing, listening, speaking, thinking, aesthetic appreciation, and self-learning.
- Cultivate students' interests in language learning, develop good attitudes and habits towards language learning, and enhance their sense of responsibility towards society.
- Foster morality and strengthen students' emotional connection to the country and the nation by appreciating Chinese culture.
Curriculum Features
Mandarin is used to teach Chinese language.
- Students in grades 1 to 6 learn from school-based textbooks.
- Various activities such as drama, recitation, and speech are implemented to create language contexts and develop students' abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Improving Students' Abilities in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking
- For lower primary classes, listening and speaking are emphasized, while for middle and upper primary classes, reading and writing are integrated.
- Attention is paid to the accumulation of standard language and the cultivation of language sense.
- Reading strategies are taught in reading lessons to help students master different levels of thinking abilities.
- In grades 1 to 3, "book and drama teaching" is offered, while in grades 4 to 6, "novel teaching" is provided, in which teachers guide students to read and analyze texts, describe writing techniques, and organize concept maps. This helps students learn how to read and write independently.
Developing Students' Self-Learning Abilities
- Our school attaches great importance to students' self-learning abilities in language learning and encourages students to read in advance and master reading strategies, ultimately leading to a lifelong love of reading.
- Through extensive reading and reading of classical literature, students' accumulation of literature and history is strengthened.
- Interactive learning platforms and tools (such as e-books, Edmodo, Classflow, ActivePanel, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR)) are used to expand learning space and create more three-dimensional and concrete learning experiences.
Creating a Strong Atmosphere for Language Learning
- Inspirational quotes from famous people are displayed in the school to help students learn positive values.
- "Chinese Culture and Mandarin Day" is held, where students participate in diverse booth games and activities that incorporate learning and play.
- Students participate in performance-based activities such as storytelling and recitation to showcase their speaking abilities.
- "Poetry and Painting Competition" and "Innovative and Classical Poetry Conference" are held to encourage students to actively participate in classical literature appreciation activities and appreciate the beauty of poetry while being influenced by Chinese culture.
